Year 6 Weekly Blog 18.9.26

This week, the children have enjoyed our continued journey through the eyes of Nathaniel in our novel, Freedom, where we have looked at his journey to England and his hopes of gaining Freedom when he reaches there. We have written a biography based on a famous abolitionist or Civil Rights activist, working together to edit and improve these to a Year 6 standard.

In maths, we have looked at negative numbers and their appearance in everday lives, before recapping addition and subtraction and how to find common factors and multiples of numbers. In science, the children have created their own animals which they have adapted to suit a range of environment they would usually not be able to survive in: the desert penguin and arctic camel have been the highlight of suggestions. 

In history we have looked at Liverpool's impact on the Transatlantic Slave Trade and how it grew because of it. We have also developed harmonies in music and our skills in both rugby and dodgeball, particularly our defensive tactics in both.
