Year 6 Weekly Blog 13.7.25

Date: 13th Jun 2025 @ 2:44pm

Working as a team has been a theme this week for Year 6. We have continued to work collaboratively in maths in order to design a functioning theme park, deciding on entrance fees and using percentage increases to work out annual profitts. The children have then presented their ideas to other groups, getting rated on how successful their park is accordingly. The children have also worked with each other well to check their fiction writing based on Macbeth; we cannot wait to read their final products.

We have started to work on the Leavers' show, with the children learning a few songs we will be singing at the event. They have made a good start to this and they can continue to practise at home with the lyrics and music on our Home Learning Page.

The main event of the week was the excellent Leavers' Service at the Anglican Cathedral. The children were treated to excellent entertainment, with a good positive message about perserverence and growing up. We hope the children take a lot from the stories they were told during this event and are preparing for the rest of our leavers' events. Next up..... Dearne Valley!!!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
