Year 6 blog, week ending 21/11/25

Date: 21st Nov 2025 @ 12:59pm

Year 6 have been very busy this week, right across the curriculum. Now that our Remembrance Service has been presented to school, it was back to our more typical timetable. We have started to link our Design Technology to our science focus this half term – looking at electrical circuits, which will feed into our own creation of a steady-hand game.

In PE, we have continued our gymnastics focus and hockey outdoors. In maths, we have broached the challenging topic of converting between imperial and metric measures, as well as converting these between themselves. It has involved a lot of known-fact refreshing so feel free to test your children and dust up on your own skills in this area.

In our writing, the children have been composing their own newspaper reports on the ancient Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. We have looked at various retellings of this story, and the children’s class-teachers are looking forward to reviewing their final, independent compositions.

Have a great weekend.

The Year 6 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
