Year 6 blog for week ending 2.5.25

Date: 2nd May 2025 @ 2:25pm

With it being our first full week back in school since Easter, we have seen the children going the extra mile to push themselves towards their assessments. The children have been revising a range of skills within maths and have been supporting each other well.

We have continued our writing around Phillipe Petite, and our topic learning about New York City. Year 6 have also combined their learning, exercise and some sunshine, finishing the week with some orienteering-based activities in small groups. This was a lovely way to end Friday – a day which also included a visit from the Deputy Lieutenant, who came to talk to the children about King Charles and his life. Thanks to all the parents and carers who attended our combined online SATS and Dearne Valley meeting. The video link for the recording of this will be available soon.

Enjoy a restful and extended weekend. Only one more week in school until the test begin.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
