An Outstanding Week in Year 6!

What an extraordinary, action-packed week it has been across 6H and 6C! Our classrooms and corridors have been radiating warmth, responsibility, and pride as the children stepped up to some wonderful new challenges.

This week has been defined with a brilliant showcase of character. Year 6 children proved themselves to be impeccable ambassadors for St Luke's, guiding prospective parents around the school with confidence, warmth, and maturity—earning rave reviews from every visitor! This spirit of community carried into our Class Value worship, where the children led the rest of the school in exploring our Christian value of respect. They beautifully articulated what respect truly means and how we see it in action across both our school and local community.

In science, learning came to life as pupils designed custom Top Trumps cards for adapted animals, testing whether their creatures had what it takes to survive various challenging environmental scenarios. It was a wonderfully collaborative week as 6H and 6C combined forces for Tag Rugby and Dodgeball mini intra-school tournaments, showcasing the fantastic skills they've been mastering during lessons.

Over in Maths, we have officially entered the world of fractions, exploring equivalence. This new topic has relied heavily on our core times table skills—and what a timing for it! Both 6H and 6C secured a fantastic opening win in the school TTRS tournament. Add in all their hard work, and it's safe to say it's been another lovely, successful week all round!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
