Year 6 Blog 4.9.26
Date: 4th Sep 2026 @ 2:36pm
What an amazing first week the children have had in Year 6. They have all arrived in school ready for action, sharing the tales of their amazing summers but also keen to impress with their behaviour and attitude to learning. We have started to look at the Transatlantic Slave Trade in English and history looking at how and why it began as well as starting to look at the lives of some famous abolitionist, such as Olaudah Equiano. In maths we have begun to look at Place Value of numbers, working our way up to 10,000,000, as well as sharpening our Times-Tables skills (These will be key to success in Year 6). We have also started to look at how collaboration in both music and computing is key to getting messages across and bring people together.
We finished the week with a re-introduction to our buddies, helping them to play games and share stories. We look forward to doing this many times over the next few months.
We look forward to talking to you more about Year 6 at our Welcome to Year 6 Meeting on Wednesday 16th September after School (exact time tbc).
