Year 6 Blog 30.1.26
Date: 30th Jan 2026 @ 2:57pm
The children in Year 6 have shown great resilience this week as we have complete another set of sats to monitor gaps and see their progress. This has been interlaced with the continuation of our story writing bsed on Tyger, with the children learning techniques on how to slowly introduce charaters using description and imagery.
In maths we have continued our look at how to calculate the percentages of numbers, using known facts to help, as well as finding the whole when given percentages of numbers. In science, we looked at how fossils can help to show how animals have developed over time to survive in their habitats and what various evidence can tell us about how they lived thousands of years ago. In RE, we looked at the Golden Rule and how we can apply this in our lives to be better people.
The week was topped off by a trip to the Plaze Cinema to watch The Island on Bird Street for Holocaust Memorial Week. The children were deeply moved by the story and reflect on how people are still affected by percecution to this day.
