Year 6 Blog 2.10.26

Date: 2nd Oct 2026 @ 2:48pm

What a phenomenal week it has been across 6H and 6C! Our classrooms and sports fields have been absolutely buzzing with energy, focus, and resilience. In PE, pupils have levelled up their Tag Rugby tactics across both classes, mastering slick passing sequences and executing brilliant dummy passes to outwit defenders and gain that vital attacking edge. This competitive spirit spilled over brilliantly on Thursday afternoon as our star-studded tag rugby team headed down to Southport Rugby Club. Demonstrating impeccable teamwork, sportsmanship, and immense maturity, the squad put on a masterclass—triumphing in four matches, while our only two defeats were heartbreakers by a single try!

Back in the classroom, our English lessons have taken a powerful, immersive turn as we delved deeper into our novel, Freedom. Pupils put themselves directly into Nathaniel’s shoes during an intense and emotional conscience alley, using deep inference skills to weigh up tough choices, who can he trust? This rich empathy work flowed seamlessly into our writing, as the children began gathering a treasure trove of figurative language to craft their own gripping endings to Chapter 9.

Meanwhile, in Maths, everyone showed true grit and resilience by tackling long division for the very first time, conquering complex calculations with flying colours. Add in the Times Table Rockstars Heatmaps turning an even brighter shade of green by the day, and it's safe to say it's been another lovely, action-packed week all round!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
