Year 6 Blog 20th March 2026

Date: 20th Mar 2026 @ 2:51pm

The children in Year 6 have continued to work on their escped stories based on Freedom. The children have been working on a paragraph a day to ensure that their sentences and paragraphs are the best that they could possibly be. We have continued to look at properties of shapes in maths, including angles in various polygons and how to identify nets of 3D shapes. We have now moved on to coordinate grids, looking at how we represent coordinates and the relationship between points along a line.

In RE we have delved deeper into the person who is Jesus, looking at what he, himself, said. The children looked at different parts of scripture to get a clearer picture of this. In PE the children have put their handballs skills to full use as they have competed in a number of matches, focussing on passing skills and team work.

Some children in Year 6 took part in the UKMT Primary Kngaroo Challenge on Friday, where they were challenged to a number of problem solving activities that tested their mathematical abilities. We look forward to seeing the result of them soon!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
