Year 6 Blog 19.4.24

Date: 19th Apr 2024 @ 3:19pm

What an event filled first week back we have had in Year 6. The Children have come back with great enthusiasm rerady to take on their final few months of St Luke's. We have started to look at the great city of New York, focussing in on its history and some of its wonders. In English, we have focussed on Phillipe Petit, the man who walked across the Twin Towers, thinking about his thoughts and feelings while completing the task and even pretending to be him, asking questions to our peers.

In science, we have started out study of Light, with the children planning a childrens' television programme to explain how light allows us to see objects; we cannot wait to see them next week.

Our religion studies have led us to look at the euchariust and its importance to Christians, while in computing we have looked at spreadsheets and how we can hold data within them.

With Dearne Valley on the horizon, please make sure that all payments have been made as soon as possible and watch this space for more news!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
