The highlight of this week was World Book Day where  the children could use their imaginations and come into school dressed as characters from a book of their choice. Please take a look at the photos taken of them. The joy opf reading can’t be underestimated and we aim to foster a love of reading at St Luke’s with our well stocked library.

In writing, we have continued in our build up books exploring Hannah’s frustration and annoyance with her workaholic Dad. Her toy gorilla has now come to life and grown full size, ready to take Hannah on an adventure.

In maths, we have been exploring fractions and decimal fractions and how they are related. We began with tenths and moved on to hundredths. It’s great to see how well the children have challenged themselves with this tricky concept. 0.35 = 35/100 = 7/20

In science, the children have explored soluble, insoluble and suspension and carried out investigations to see which materials could be classified under each of these terms. The children did realise that the temperature of the water played a big part in classifying the solids they used. Think gravy granules!

Star Warts the show, is coming on well with the acting and singing improving each and every rehearsal that we have. The dance choreography has just begun as has the prop making. It will all come together on the day!

Enjoy your weekend and we’ll see you all back on Monday morning for another fun week of learning and developing.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
