Year 5 Blog 27/3/26

Date: 27th Mar 2026 @ 2:32pm

Wow!!! What a week!

The children have been absolute STARs (Warts)!
A huge effort by the entire year 5 team culminated with an amazing run of four consecutive shows to lots of excited audiences.
We will let the photos do all the work of words as they demonstrate how much the children enjoyed themselves throughout this fabulous experience.
We are so lucky to have such wonderful, hardworking and talented children in Year 5 and would like to thank all of our parents/carers for their continued support.

As well as the show, the children have also focussed hard on their curriculum subjects too.

They planned, wrote and edited their version of "Gorilla” and we are lucking forward to marking them over the Easter break.

They continued their work on fractions, decimals and percentages and now know that 4/5 = 0.8 = 80%

They even set up an investigation to see what chemical reaction took place when mixing bicarbonate of soda with lemon juice and enjoyed watching as their balloons began to magically inflate!

Following this, they demonstrated what happens when a vitamin C effervescent tablet is mixed with vinegar, shooting their tube lid across the field and seeing who could fire it the furthest.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
