Year 5 Blog, 24/10

Date: 24th Oct 2025 @ 3:48pm

Our final week of half term is complete and it's been an exciting one at that!

The highlight of the week has to be the dodgeball tournament between 5W and 5R on Wednesday. Both classes played fantastically with a positive level of competition as well as a great sense of teamwork. From the teachers perspectives, this was a royal success.

For English, we have now completed our Pok-a-Tok instructions writing. The children have produced brilliant writing with a host of Year 5 devices interwoven. Our attention now looks forward to next half term and our build up writing for a Transmission to Mars.

The mathematics train continues to roll as we draw upon skills from the previous 7 weeks and look to check our own calculations with estimations.

In Art, we have now completed our maps and had the delightful opportunity to share these with our Year 1 buddies this Friday afternoon.

We wish you a fantastic half term, full of rest and enjoyment.

The Year 5 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
