A successful first week back after our half term break. We hope you had a rest filled time over the half term!

This week has seen an exciting assembly delivered by 82 cap, England goalkeeper, Rachel Brown-Finnis. We enjoyed an inspiring talk about never giving up and challenging stereotypes to achieve your passions.

Our studies continue with a topic theme of Space. The children have already discovered some wonderful facts about the planet Mars and have submerged themselves in the solar system. With this, our English work is focussed on a clip from the film 'The Martian', looking at Matt Damon's character feeling lost and hopeless. We will be creating a transmission from Mars.

Addition and subtraction in Maths has drawn to a close with the pupils completing an assessment today. We had our first taste of algebra today through the inverse functions work. Very impressive indeed.

PE progresses with Gymnastics taking our indoor session and Hockey taking our Friday sessions (much to Mr Ryan's delight!).

Have a lovely weekend!

The Year 5 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
