Year 5 - 27/2/26

Date: 27th Feb 2026 @ 4:01pm

A very successful first week back.

We hope that your half term (no matter how distant it may feel) was a success. The children have returned with an eagerness to learn which is fantastic!

Our Maths steers back around to fractions with a focus on finding fractions of numbers and finding the whole towards the end of the week.

The new English unit centres around the story 'Gorilla'. A heartwarming tale of connection with some beautiful illustrations to support their creativity.

Science is the topic focus for this half term with solids, liquids and gasses revisited this week. They took part in an experiment to recreate the water cycle using warm water and an icecube, suspended by clingfilm.

Preparations for the play are racing ahead with the children learning their positions on the stage and rehearsing their lines with their co-actresses/actors. A huge thank you to parents who have clearly practised over the half term. We promise, it will be worth it!

Have a fantastic weekend and see you on Monday.

The Year 5 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
