Year 4 Blog 8.5.26

Date: 8th May 2026 @ 1:16pm

We have had a slightly shorter but busy week in Year 4.

In maths, we have been working hard to understand improper fractions and learning how to convert mixed numbers into improper fractions. The children have shown great determination as they practised these new skills using diagrams, number lines and practical examples to support their understanding.

In Art, the children produced a final piece of work based on their learning about pattern. They used a range of different skills, ideas and techniques inspired by the various artists they have studied throughout the topic. It has been wonderful to see their creativity and individuality shine through in their finished pieces.

In PE, we continued developing our athletics skills by practising overarm throwing with power and control for distance using the javelin. The children showed great focus as they worked on improving their technique and accuracy when aiming for a target.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
