Year 4 Blog 28.11.25

Date: 28th Nov 2025 @ 12:07pm

What a busy week we have had, the children have been working their socks off.

In English, they have continued with their build up lessons, introducing each of the characters of the story The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. They are gathering lots of descriptive vocabulary ready to plan and write their own piece.

In Maths the children have continued working with subtraction. They have been looking at column method and have been improving their calculating, when they need to exchange amounts. They have also been developing their understanding of subtraction within word problems.

In History, the children have been looking at what life was like during the Anglo-Saxon period. They have been looking at life in Britain, once the Angles, the Saxons and the Jutes invaded.

In Guided Reading, the children have been reading and gathering more information about the Anglo-Saxon period in History.

A ‘big’ well done to our Weekly Superstars: 4C: Xavi and Amelia Grace 4M

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
