Year 4 Blog 24.4.26

Date: 24th Apr 2026 @ 10:36am

Year 4 have had another great week and luckily the sun has been out to make our playtimes brighter.

This week has been full of exciting learning across the curriculum. In maths, we have been focusing on perimeter, building our understanding of how to measure around rectilinear shapes.

In indoor PE, we have been creating our own Egyptian dance sequences by putting together different actions and in outdoor PE we have been practising our running skills using hurdles, focusing on our lead leg.

Our topic work has taken us deeper into Ancient Egypt, where we have been learning about Egyptian gods and the importance of the River Nile to everyday life. We have also continued reading our class text, The Secrets of the Sun King, which the children are thoroughly enjoying.

We also visited Formby High School to take part in Sing for Sefton alongside other local schools—a fantastic experience that everyone really enjoyed!

Well done to our Weekly Superstars: -

4C: Isla and Fred 4M.

Home Learning for this week: -

Doodle Maths – Calculate the perimeter of rectangles.

Doodle Tables and TTRS to improve your instant recall of times tables up to 12 x 12.

Doodle spelling – medicine, mention, minute, natural, naughty, notice, occasion.

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
