Year 4 blog 16.1.26

Date: 16th Jan 2026 @ 9:38am

What a super second full week into the new Spring term we have had! Luckily, the weather has been a little warmer and we’ve managed to get outside for most of our playtimes!!!

In maths, we have been multiplying and dividing numbers by 6 and 9.  Please ensure the children are regularly practicing their times tables up to 12, as they rely on these when calculating their answers.

As part of this term’s Rainforest topic, the children have been introduced to The Great Kapok tree, in English. They have been orally retelling the story from a story map they have each created.

In PSHE, the classroom became a relaxing haven, and the children enjoyed lying back and taking part in some breathing and relaxation activities.

In Geography, the children have been finding out about the Amazon Rainforest. They have been developing their note making skills, whilst learning about the 4 different layers of the rainforest and the difference between the four layers.

In science, we have started looking at the similarities and difference between living things. The children have been grouping depending on observable characteristics.

Doodle home Learning assignments this week are: - Spelling, Maths, Tables and English.

A ‘big’ well done to our Weekly Superstars: 4C: William and Sofia 4M.

Please remember the CHET meeting to parents and carers is on Thursday 22nd January at 5pm via Zoom.

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
