Year 4 blog 15.5.26

Date: 15th May 2026 @ 9:53am

Another fantastic week of learning in Year 4! The weather has been very mixed, but thankfully the children have still managed to get outside and enjoy being with their friends.

In English, we have been planning our diary writing from the perspective of Howard Carter, focusing on the events leading up to the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. The children have enjoyed stepping into the shoes of the famous archaeologist and thinking carefully about how he might have felt during this exciting time.

In maths, the children have risen to the challenge of learning about equivalent fractions and adding fractions with the same denominator, showing resilience when tackling tricky questions.

In Music, we explored pitch by investigating high and low sounds, while in PE we continued developing our athletics skills through sprinting and practising the triple jump.

4C even managed to fit in their Golden ticket celebration, and enjoyed making dens with their friends!

Congratulations to this week's superstars: -

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
