Year 4 Blog 1.4 26

Date: 1st May 2026 @ 1:27pm

We have had another busy, sunny week in Year 4.

In Maths, we have been focusing on fractions. The children have been developing their understanding of the whole and building on this by counting beyond 1. They have also been learning how to partition mixed numbers and represent them on number lines. It’s been great to see their confidence slowly grow.

In Science, the children have enjoyed investigating how sounds are made.

In English they have been gathering super descriptive vocabulary, based on Secrets of a Sun King.

In History, the children have been finding out what ancient Egyptians believed in. They have enjoyed researching and making notes.

The children also enjoyed developing their long jump techniques during our athletics lesson.

Congratulations to this week's superstars: -

We hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend, and the sun makes an appearance!!

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
