Year 4 Blog 13.3.26

Date: 13th Mar 2026 @ 1:20pm

Year 4 have had a fantastic time celebrating Science Week! We explored how scientists classify living things by looking at their features and grouping them in different ways. It was great fun thinking like real scientists and sorting different animals and objects.

We also learned more about electricity. The children enjoyed building and coding a circuit, using switches to turn components on and off. We investigated conductors and insulators, testing different materials to see which ones allowed electricity to flow.

We were lucky to hear from some amazing visitors too. An aircraft engineer talked to us about the electronics used in planes and how important circuits are in modern technology. A doctor also visited and showed us the fascinating (and slightly gory!) journey food takes through the digestive system. The class especially enjoyed playing Poo Bingo while learning about digestion!

To finish the week, we also looked at injection moulded engineering and recycling plastics and discussed how we can help protect our planet. It has been a fun, busy week full of exciting science learning!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
