This week in English, we've been exploring descriptive language of combat as we continue with our rewriting of Roman Diary: The Journal of Iliona. We gathered a range of adverbs to capture the action of gladiator battles in the ampitheatres. We’ve also focused on spelling words that end with the suffix -ous, like dangerous and mountainous, which will help with our writing as we move forward.
In Maths, we’ve been learning more about angles! The children have been identifying and measuring right angles, acute angles, and obtuse angles, gaining a solid understanding of how angles are part of the world around us. The children are becoming angle experts!
In PE, the children have been perfecting their batting techniques in cricket. Meanwhile, in indoor PE, they’ve been choreographing Roman dances - ask your child to show you their moves at home!
A big well done to 3GP, who enjoyed their very first swimming lesson on Wednesday! They did brilliantly and were even awarded a golden ticket. 3R were busy too, creating beautiful compositions of Indian traditional music on the glockenspiel.
We also commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday with a whole school assembly. The children then visited our very special WW2 museum, which was filled with historical items kindly donated by St Luke’s staff and families. It was a wonderful way to learn about history.
We are all excited for our Roman Fort Trip next Thursday! Please be reminded children must wear suitable outdoor mufti and bring a packed lunch.
Have a fantastic weekend.
