Year 3 Weekly Blog 23.5.25
Date: 23rd May 2025 @ 9:01am
We've had another fantastic week in Year 3, helped along by some beautiful sunshine!
This week we have focused on the history of the three Roman invasions of Britain and the legacy the Romans left behind. Our trip to the Roman fort really helped bring the topic to life - the children could truly imagine what it must have felt like to be in Britain 2,000 years ago, facing a Roman invasion!
In RE this week, the children explored the Jewish festival of Passover. We learned about the significance of the Seder plate and carefully labelled the ceremonial items placed on it.
In music, we enjoyed another fun singing session with Mr Manning from Liverpool Cathedral. We're looking forward to our annual Year 3 singing performance The Big Sing at Liverpool Cathedral which is always a memorable experience for the children. We understand that you may need to make arrangements to attend, so please save the date: Thursday 3rd July, 1:00 - 2:00pm. Further details about the entire day will be shared shortly.
In Outdoor Games, 3R had another fun cricket session, this time focusing on developing their bowling technique with a run-up. After half term, once 3GP have finished their final two swimming sessions, 3R will begin their swimming lessons on Wednesday 18th July.
In DT, our castles are complete! The children have thoroughly enjoyed every stage of the project, from the initial planning and design to the construction and final decorative tweaks. They worked hard to meet their design briefs, using templates to carefully create 3D shapes and applying techniques to secure their castles to a strong and stable base. It’s been amazing to see their ideas come to life, and the children are rightly proud of what they’ve achieved. We hope these wonderful creations enjoy a long and proud legacy in your homes!
Have a wonderful half term break, everyone. We look forward to welcoming the children back for our final Summer half term in Year 3, on Wednesday 4th June.
