Year 3 Weekly Blog 20.6.25

Date: 19th Jun 2025 @ 7:46pm

We’ve had a truly wonderful Arts Week, Year Three have immersed themselves in so many creative experiences and produced some fantastic work.

In art, we explored the work of UK textile artists Alice Kettle and Hannah Rae, known for their art inspired by the environment. The children painted landscapes on fabric, then used running stitch to add texture and detail. The finished pieces were beautiful and full of creativity!

On Monday, we had an energetic Djembe drumming session with Mrs Edger. The children loved playing the large drums and working together to create exciting rhythms as a class.

We even joined an interactive dance lesson led by Darcey Bussell. We tried out a range of dance styles from around the world, including the Charleston, the Hand Jive, Bollywood dancing, and a traditional Japanese dance. It was a joyful, active session full of fun!

We also explored self-portraits by sketching in the style of Roman busts. The children used mirrors to observe their own features carefully before sketching their outlines. They then chose either warm or cool colour tones to give their portraits a unique flair.

We ended the week with a brilliant celebration worship featuring performances from the fantastic Make Noise Adult and Junior Choirs. What a wonderful week!

The Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
