Year 3 Weekly Blog 11.7.25

Date: 11th Jul 2025 @ 4:38pm

What a hot and sunny week it’s been in Year 3! We've been busy making even more memorable moments as we approach the end of an amazing school year.

This week, we’ve been learning all about London and how it has changed over time. We also explored maps, focusing on contour lines, colours, and what they can tell us about elevation, depth, and different landforms like mountains and valleys.

In RE, we’ve been finding out what happens in churches - not just on Sundays, but throughout the week too. The children learned about the wide range of services, events, and community support churches provide - even while we’re busy in school!

A huge congratulations to all the Year 3 children who took part in the Summer Concert. It was a fantastic evening full of music, and we are incredibly proud of how confidently and joyfully our children performed. Well done!

On Thursday, we were delighted to welcome Rob from Formby Library, who introduced the children to the Summer Reading Challenge. Read six books and collect stickers and prizes along the way. Ask at a library desk to join up!

In Computing, we explored branching databases - a fun and practical way to organise information using yes/no questions. The children enjoyed games like Guess the Object, where they used logical thinking to narrow down answers with only yes-or-no clues.

On Friday, Year 3 had another lovely visit to their new Year 4 classrooms. They spent time with their new teachers, and returned full of smiles and stories to share. We’re so proud of how positively they are embracing the next step!

Time to grab a pen (or three) and mark next week's mufti and PE days on the calendar -

Monday - School uniform

Tuesday - 3R will enjoy their Golden Ticket Celebration and can wear mufti for the day, 3GP should come in their usual PE kit.

Wednesday - we're thrilled to welcome ‘Mr Skipping’ for a special skipping workshop! 3R PE kit as usual. 3GP are asked to wear PE kit on this day too.

Thursday - School uniform (we’ll be watching the exciting Year 6 Variety Performance in the morning  - always a highlight of the year!)

Friday - it's Break the Rules day! All children can wear mufti but please ensure your child is wearing suitable footwear and clothing for PE, as it is our normal Year 3 PE day.

Thank you for your support! Have a wonderful weekend.

The Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
