DT week!

What a busy week Year 3 have had designing, making and evaluating their Christmas cushions. They have all done a brilliant job! We started the week with designing four different cushions. Out of the 4, the children then picked their favourite for their cushion. They thought about the different stitches they need to do to ensure it is sewed strongly and the different colours they would like to use.

Once their cushion was designed, the children began to use their sewing skills to make their Christmas cushion. They sewed their applique onto the top of the cushion first and added any embellishments like buttons. Then they sewed the back to the front and stuffed it to make it comfortable.

The children used a running stitch to sew the applique and the sides of the cushion together, and used a cross stitch as a decorative piece. The final products are fantastic – we are so proud of them!

As well as DT week, Year 3 performed to the whole school in their Christmas singing performance! It can be quite daunting standing on a stage in front of lots of people but everyone did – they all sang beautifully and the whole school was super impressed.

It’s that time of year where Christmas is officially in full swing! Year 3 watched the Year 2’s Nativity performance. We were all blown away – it is clear that Year 2 have worked so hard on this and we gave them a huge applause.

This week in English, the children finished writing their Stone Age Boy narrative. We are all incredibly proud of their efforts, ideas and creativity. We have edited our work to ensure it is as good as can be! This is such an important skill to have and the children brilliantly recognised where improvements could be made.

Takeover Day

Our fabulous Christmas Takeover Day is on Tuesday 16th December. Just a reminder that the children need a packed lunch for this day.

Uniform

Just a reminder that for school shoes, please ensure your child is wearing black shoes/trainers.

Home Learning

This week, Homework has been set on Doodle. It involves Column Subtraction with Exchanging. We have practiced this lots in school – including in our Morning Motivator each morning – but it is important to consolidate this as much as possible. Please ensure this is completed by Wednesday. Your child receives a stamp for every homework piece!!

Have a wonderful weekend everybody,

Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
