New learning and story planning!
The children have been introduced to some tricky concepts this week in Maths. We have learned how to multiply 2 digit numbers by a 1 digit number using column method as well as how to divide using bus stop. These are essential skills for the children and we will continue to practise these as much as possible.
In English, we have completed our story planning. The children will be writing their own version of ‘The Incredible Book Eating Boy’ and we cannot wait to read them!
In PSHE, we had our final session all about Healthy Eating. The overarching message was that food is fuel and no food is bad for us. However, we must ensure we eat a balanced diet and have some foods in moderation.
Year 3 also looked at resilience and breaking down their barriers. They read the story ‘The Owl in the Dark’ to see how Plop overcame his fear so that they could use some strategies to overcome their fears.
The children created some beautiful gymnastic sequences this week, including different jumps, balances and ways of travel.
Next week
Next Friday is NSPCC Number Day (6th February). The children can come into school in their own clothes and we will be completing lots of fun maths activities including Buddy’s Key Challenge and TTRS competitions.
Home Learning
To continue to develop confidence with the 3 and 4 times tables, the homework this week has been set on Doodle called ‘Solve word problems involving multiplication.’ Please ensure this is completed by Wednesday.
Have a lovely weekend all,
Year 3 Team
