Year 3 Blog 25.09.26

Date: 24th Sep 2026 @ 4:16pm

What another fantastic week we have had in Year 3!

The children have continued to work incredibly hard and have shown such enthusiasm and curiosity across all areas of their learning. It has been wonderful to see their confidence growing as they take on new challenges and enjoy learning together.

In English, we enjoyed our second Experience Day. The children used Chromebooks to research fascinating facts about a variety of different flowers. They then used the information they had gathered to create their very own flower fact files. The children worked hard to select interesting and relevant information, organise their ideas and present their facts clearly. It was lovely to see them becoming independent researchers and sharing their new-found knowledge with their friends.

In Maths, the children have been learning to count in multiples of 50. They have been working hard to recognise number patterns and develop their confidence when counting forwards and backwards in 50s. The children have enjoyed taking part in a range of activities and challenges to practise and apply their learning.

Our Science learning has continued to focus on plants and germination. The children have been learning about the process of germination and exploring what a seed needs in order to grow. We have discussed the importance of water, warmth, light and suitable conditions for healthy plant growth.

The children also had the opportunity to get practical by planting their own seeds and bulbs. They carefully considered what their plants would need to grow and were very excited to get their hands into the soil! We are looking forward to watching our seeds and bulbs develop over the coming weeks and seeing what changes we can observe.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Welcome to Year 3 meeting. It was fantastic to see such a brilliant turnout, and we really appreciate you taking the time to join us. If you were unable to attend, please don’t worry! We have a leaflet containing all of the information shared during the meeting, so please just ask if you would like a copy.

Well done, Year 3, on another fantastic week! We are so proud of the enthusiasm, effort and curiosity you have shown throughout the week. Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week of learning next week!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
