Year 3 Blog 24.11.23

Year 3 have had a busy and exciting week!

The children loved our visit to Cineworld cinema in St Helen’s to watch the Stone Age film, Early Man. The film was a perfect way to conclude our English narrative, Stone Age Boy. This week, Y3 have written their big write based on the book Stone Age Boy. The children changed the characters and independently wrote their own versions of the story.

On Thursday, our choir members serenaded us with a rehearsal of their Formby Lights Switch On set, getting us all in the Christmas mood.

In maths, we have moved onto multiplying in 4’s and 8’s. If your child is unfamiliar with these times tables please spend some time on TTRS's. You can choose which tables you wish to focus on. There are also many funky times tables songs on YouTube. They are annoyingly catchy but that's the point. If it sticks in your head it's working! We have been singing these songs in class all week!

Y3 have enjoyed P.E. lessons this week… we have been lucky with dry weather! Tag Rugby games were a favourite… the children enjoyed competing in team games such as ‘cats and mice’ and ‘catch me if you can.’ Please take a look at the photos!

Next week… is D.T. week! The children will be designing and creating their own cushions! We are all looking forward to this exciting challenge!

Finally, upcoming in science, we will begin to explore different soils. Where do you live? What is the soil like in your back garden? Is it the same soil as a family member who lives in a different part of the country? Get those trowels out and explore!

Wishing you all a restful weekend! See you all on Monday!

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
