Spring is here!

Our Y3 children have settled back into school very well this week and they are embracing the new half term! This half term our main subject focus is History/Geography. We are learning all about The Romans!

This half term we have two very exciting school trips coming up, including: Catalyst sleepover trip and The Roman Fort trip in North Wales. We are in for a busy and exciting couple of weeks in Y3!

This week in maths, we have been learning about perpendicular and parallel lines! Our maths home learning this week links to this area. We found that the children were very confident with parallel lines, which is amazing! However, perpendicular lines seemed to be a little tricky. If you get a chance at home, ask your child what a perpendicular line is/why is it a perpendicular.

In English we have begun our new narrative story, Wisp. Firstly, the children enjoyed an English Experience Day where they conducted research, as partners, on refugees. ‘What is a refugee?’ ‘What countries could a refugee come from?’ ‘Why do they need to flee their countries?’ As you can imagine, this was an interesting but emotional lesson for the children. This has set the children up nicely when studying our new story, Wisp.

We have now started Latin! Our Y3 children were very excited to start learning Latin. We were super impressed with the children’s understanding! If you get a chance at home, ask your child what they learned in Latin this week.

On Wednesday, we all participated in a Knife Crime Relay. As a class, we all ran, or power walked 1 mile, which is 10 and ⅓ laps of the school field!

If you were unable to attend the Catalyst Sleepover Trip meeting on Tuesday evening, don’t worry - the meeting was recorded and has been published on the school website. You can find the video under the Year 3 section.

Enjoy the weekend! See you next week for another busy week!

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
