A week of Christmas fun!

Wow, what a fun-filled week we have had celebrating the Christmas festivities! Only a week to go until the big day. This term has absolutely flown and we have loved teaching your children so far.

We started the week watching a Christmas performance based on ‘Minecraft’ including some hilarious characters such as Pepe Pig. It was incredibly engaging and interactive – even some of the children performed in the show. Interwoven within the comedy, there was a message of resilience and hope, ending with the Christmas Story.

Tuesday was, I quote, “THE BEST DAY EVER!!” We had our Takeover Day full of puzzles and parties. Year 3 started the day with a breakfast of pastries and juice and played Christmas Bingo. Year 3 then made Christmas cards using carbon paper and decorated these to give to someone of their choice. Year 3 then had their Santa Dash slot – a snow machine was organised and we had a little dance in the ‘snow’. In the afternoon, the children had a party full of music, dancing and games including pass the parcel. The children then ended their day with a film and ate gingerbread men that they decorated. The day was such a success and the children loved every second. A huge thank you to FOSLS for organising it.

Wednesday was full of Science, finishing off our rocks unit. We investigated different types of rocks to see which were sedimentary. We then investigated different types of soils, answering questions like, ‘is it crumbly?’ ‘does it roll into a ball?’ to determine whether it is sand, clay or chalk. We got messy!

Home Learning

As it is the end of the Autumn Term, no homework will be set. Where possible, please continue to read with your child and go on TTRS to keep up with the times tables.

The Home Learning Grid will be updated in Spring 1.

First week back

We return to school on Monday 5th January. On Thursday 8th January, we are taking Year 3 to Eureka – exciting! Please ensure all payments have been made and permission slips signed.

A huge thank you for the lovely Christmas gifts we received, we really appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity. We hope you have a restful break and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year.

Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
