Year 3 Blog 18.09.26

Date: 17th Sep 2026 @ 4:45pm

What another fantastic week we have had in Year 3! The children have continued to work hard and have shown such enthusiasm and excitement across all areas of their learning. It has been wonderful to see their confidence growing as they take on new challenges and enjoy learning together.

In English, we have started our new fiction story, The Gardener. The children have been exploring the story and developing their descriptive writing skills. This week, they have begun writing using alliteration and adjectives, thinking carefully about how they can choose interesting and effective vocabulary to bring their writing to life.

Year 3 also enjoyed a very exciting English Experience Day this week! The children became gardeners for the day and had the opportunity to plant their very own bulbs. They thoroughly enjoyed getting their hands stuck into the soil and learning about what plants need to grow. Alongside planting their bulbs, the children used chromebooks to research fascinating facts about a variety of flowers. They even discovered the Latin names for different flowers!

It has been lovely to see the children working independently during their research and sharing interesting facts with one another. We are excited to see whether our planted bulbs begin to grow over the coming weeks!

Well done, Year 3, on another fantastic week! Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week of learning next week!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
