Year 3 Blog 16.10.26

Date: 16th Oct 2026 @ 2:18pm

We have had another busy and exciting week in Year 3, filled with fantastic learning and some lovely moments!

This week, the children had lots of fun at the school disco! It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves, dancing with their friends and making happy memories together.

A big thank you to all the children who stood up in front of the class to read their speeches for School Council. We were really impressed by their confidence, courage and willingness to share their ideas. Well done to everyone who took part!

In English, we have finalised our plans for our independent writing based on The Gardener by Sarah Stewart. The children have been working hard to develop their ideas and think carefully about the vocabulary they would like to use. Next week, they will be putting all their learning into practice as they write their independent Big Write. We will also be writing letters to our buddies who are now in Year 7, finding out how they are settling into high school. We are looking forward to reading the children's letters!

In Maths, we have continued to develop our addition and subtraction skills, focusing on adding and subtracting 1s, 10s and 100s and building our confidence with place value. Maths homework has now been placed in your child's Home Learning Book, so please take a look and support your child in completing the activities.

Next week, we will begin Monday morning at church to celebrate St Luke's Day. We are looking forward to coming together as a school community for this special occasion.

Well done, Year 3, for continuing to work so hard and showing such a positive attitude towards your learning. Keep up the fantastic effort!

Just one more week to go until half-term! Keep working hard, showing kindness and doing your very best in everything you do. Have a lovely weekend, everyone, and we look forward to another great week in Year 3!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
