Castle chaos!!

What a crazy couple of days Year 3 have had bringing their castles to life. All children planned what they wanted their castle to look like, what they were going to use to achieve this and all the colours/decorations they wanted. They used different cardboard objects, such as shoe boxes, toilet rolls and egg boxes and got creative to achieve their design. This was an independent craft activity for the children to bring their plan to life. They all had smiles on their faces and enjoyed every minute. Some castles were tall, some castles were small, but the children were extremely proud of themselves that they managed to make something out of junk modelling. Well done Year 3.

The children have also been working hard in PE - they are ready to play cricket matches between themselves as they have developed their throwing, catching, bowling, batting and fielding skills.

In Maths, the children have been learning about Mass - g and kg. The children have learned that 1000g = 1kg, so therefore kg’s are heavier than grams. They have been working hard on calculating the intervals in scales as well as adding and subtracting masses.

The children have written their Roman Diaries about a fight in an amphitheatre between a heroic gladiator and a fearsome animal. They have all done brilliantly and worked really hard to include important writing features such as adjectives, similes, thoughts and feelings. Miss Cook and Mrs Roberts can’t wait to read them!

In RE this half term, the children have been looking at celebrating different festivals. The children have learned the festivals that different religions celebrate as well as festivals non-religious people celebrate. Although they all have their differences, they have one thing in common - to celebrate what is important to them and to remember important things.

Home Learning

This week’s homework continues the learning of measuring mass in grams and kilograms. It would be great if you had a set of scales to make it practical!

Next Week

On Monday, it is the last session of Miss Cook’s quiz club.

It is Number Day on Wednesday! Year 3 are going to complete some numeracy orienteering set by Mr Hardman.

3C are swimming next Friday. This is the last day of Summer 1 but it is normal finishing time!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
