Final week of Spring 1

Well that is Spring 1 complete! As always, the children have been a pleasure to teach and it is amazing to see the progress made since September.

Our maths this week has been a continuation of our multiplication and division work, practicing to consolidate the learning of formal methods. The children have also had an extra session of TTRS as knowing times tables is crucial. Please ensure your child is accessing TTRS during half term.

In English, the children have created a front cover for their story. They have also had a 1:1 writing conference with an adult so they can see what to focus on next time. This afternoon, the children read their stories to the reception children - it was so lovely and the children loved it!

In Class Worship, we learned the history of Shrove Tuesday and Lent. We discussed which food/drink would be the hardest to give up. Lots said chocolate and sweets!

Year 3 have finished their gymnastic unit now. They learned how to do rolls such as the forward roll and the teddy bear roll, as well as different positions such as the star, pike and straddle. The children created their own sequences which they performed to the rest of the class.

To end a fabulous half term, St. Luke’s held a disco for the children. They all had amazing fun and had the best night ever!!

There is no homework for next week as it is half term.

It is crazy how fast time goes. This 6 week half term has come to an end. We hope you have a restful half term and school will be open again on Monday 23rd February.

Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
