Summer 2’s first full week is complete!
This half term, our topic is UK Today. We started our first lesson researching countries and cities in the UK using atlases. The compass points were also introduced to describe the location of different cities - ‘London is South of Newcastle’.
Science is a brand new topic of light. So far, the children have identified light sources vs non-light sources and how reflection of light is super important for us to be able to see. The children have created gorgeous posters to showcase their knowledge with lots of lovely pictures and colours.
English has been super exciting. When the children reach Year 4, they are going to be a buddy for a new reception child. The children have worked super hard this week on writing a letter to their new buddy to introduce themselves as well as St. Luke’s. They have tried to calm their nerves by relating their feelings on their first day and they have written about all the wonderful things school has to offer!
In Maths, the children have continued to focus on statistics, including bar charts and two-way tables. The children collected information about their classmates' favourite colour and favourite fruit, completed a table and then displayed this information in a bar chart. This is the first time the children have ever drawn their own table so a big well done Y3.
Both classes have enjoyed playing games of cricket on the field this week, developing their bowling, batting and fielding skills. 3C have started their work on orienteering whilst 3R have had their first session of swimming.
In Class Worship, the children delved deep into kindness, what it is and how they can ensure they kind each day. We looked at a quote which talked about pretending kindness was a necklace and that it should be a part of who they are.
Next week
3R are swimming on Friday. Please ensure your child has everything they need.
Home Learning
Home learning has been set on Doodle. There are 2 sets of questions about different lines, such as vertical, horizontal, diagonal, parallel and perpendicular. Please ensure this is completed by Wednesday.
Have a lovely weekend all, hopefully the sun stays out!
