Another fabulous week complete
Year 3 started their week looking at co-ordinating and subordinating conjunctions in Grammar. The children learned what conjunctions are and progressed to recognising them in sentences. Spelling has recapped adding the -ed ending to words ending with y. You must drop the y, replace it with an i then add ed. For example - cry becomes cried.
Year 3 have also continued the new division method of bus stop, but this week they have used it for division with remainders!! The children have done incredibly well with this - the more practice the better.
Year 3 have been learning all about Chinese New Year in Music and how their music uses the pentatonic scale (the notes C,D,E,G,A). With this, they have created their own pentatonic melodies to play. As this is played, the other children will wear their dragon mask and dance along to the music.
The children have finished writing their ‘eating’ stories in English. Next week, the children will edit them and share them with their friends.
Year 3 have completed a couple of quizzes this week - reading and grammar and punctuation. They will have spelling and maths quizzes next week. These are nothing to worry about and the children have shown their fantastic progress already.
Number Day has been great fun! There has been an intense NSPCC competition on TTRS and the children have been determined to win. This continues until 7:30pm tonight so your child can join in at home too!! Who will the winners be?
Home Learning
This week, a paper copy of division using the bus stop method has been sent home for homework. How to use the method is on the front and the questions are on the back. Please ensure this is completed and brought back to school by Wednesday.
Next Week
