Year 2 Blog 5.3.26

Date: 5th Mar 2026 @ 4:39pm

We’ve had a lovely week in Year 2! The children are in full superhero mode and are enjoying all the aspects of our  topic.

In English, the children have continued modelling a Supertato story as we get further into Evil Pea’s bad actions and thinking about how our superhero can save the day! The children have absolutely loved making their own potato in the provision areas.

During Maths the children have been working on multiplication and division. We have showed the children how to use our division method for sharing: ‘peas on a plate’. For more information on Maths, please see the home learning page.

In computing, we have been looking at how lighting can affect our photo taking and practised taking photos with our torches and natural lighting. During outdoor games we practised our batting skills in PE and then had a little game of cricket. The children absolutely loved this and have been asking to play again!

We continued looking at private parts in PSHE and the children designed their own pants with the message PANTS: privates are privates, always remember your body belongs to you, no means no, talk about secrets that upset you, speak up someone can help.

In Topic the children were introduced to the real life superhero and astronaut Helen Sharman and created a fun fact file about her life and achievements.

We all absolutely loved World Book Day! Seeing all the wonderful costumes and books the children love. We did some exciting quizzes in class, had a special worship and enjoyed some reading activities throughout the day.

Friday brought us the excitement of THE FROZEN SUPERHEREOS! Overnight someone had frozen our favourite superheroes! The children were challenged with the task of saving them from the ice!

We hope you all have a magical weekend.

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
