A nice short week back to ease us all in to the final term of year 2! How time has flown, it only feels like yesterday the children were coming to the classroom for their first taster session and now they are getting ready to begin their journey in juniors.
We have such a wonderful term to look forward to, as well as the children’s it’s also our favourite term. Lots of fun activities as we begin our ‘Walk on the Wildside’ topic. We have the very exciting art week coming up, you should have received a spider yesterday with all the details for the week. We have the yummy wrap making project in DT and of course the children are over the moon to welcome the living eggs next week!
In Maths this week we have delved back into learning how to tell the time. The children are focusing now on how to tell the time to five minutes. Telling the time is an important life skill, so any support at home with this is always very much appreciated.
In English the children have began writing their chick diaries. We started with how egg-cited they all are to welcome to living eggs on Monday! We have discussed lots about the chicks and will be updating our diary each day.
The children worked scientifically this week to determine the difference between, dead, living and never alive. They went on a walk around school, seeing what if they could find objects for each category. We then looked at life processes and what keeps us alive using MRS GREN (movement, respiration, sensitivity, growth, reproduction, excretion and nutrition). The children picked their favourite animal and thought about the life processes for that animal.
During PE the children began net and wall games, working with a friend to practice their throwing and catching skills.
We ended the week introducing our art stick project and explaining to the children how creations can form from a seed and stem into roots and shoots. The children went on a hunt outside and in the classroom to find their own "seeds", "roots" and "shoots" to create some wonderful designs.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we will see you Monday for a very egg-cellent day! Cheep cheep!
