Year 2 blog 6.2.26

Date: 4th Feb 2026 @ 8:52pm

A very busy week in year two this week. We started the week with a DT afternoon where the children got stuck in bringing their designs for Baby Bear's chair for life. Thank you for all the supplies!

More time was spent creating our stick people which the children have loved doing, picking a variation of wool to bring their sticks to life.

During Music we have been creating music to accompany a tradtional tale. We have looked at Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk. In groups the children have been using music to create suspense focusing on tempo, timbre and dynamics.

English has consisted of us starting our independent write. The children have planned their own traditional story and have began writing, focusing on different plot points from their plans. We can't wait to read the full stories after all the hard work the children have put into them this term, it's been wonderful seeing their imagination flowing.

We have continued enjoying playing toy shop and are coming to the end of our money unit in Maths. We will be moving on to look at multiplication and division shortly, so will be sending home logins for TTRockstars.

We ended the week with a fabulous day for NSPCC's Number Day. With a range of activities during the day, we all had a ball!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Take care,
The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
