Year 2 Blog 5.9.25

Welcome to Year 2!

We have had a wonderful week getting to know your children and getting them settled in with their new surroundings and classroom routine. We have been so impresssed with their behaviour and overall transition to year 2 so far!

This week have have slowly started introducing the children to this terms topic 'Where We Live'. The children shared stories from their holiday and we looked at some of their holiday destinations on Google maps.

In Maths we have been recapping numbers to 20 and our number bonds. The children have enjoyed showing us how to match the numbers with word phrases and pictures.

During English we have introduced this terms focus book 'A Lion in Paris'. The children have been looking at different landmarks in Paris and London and beginning to form sentences thinking about why the lion might want to leave his home in the grasslands to visit Paris. The children have also been challenged with finding France on our class globe and atlas.

For outdoor PE the children showed us their throwing. bouncing and catching skills with a few ball games on the playground. In indoor PE the children started gymnastics where we looked at 4 different movements.

We met our new Read Write Inc groups this week and will begin on Monday.

We hope the children have enjoyed their first week and look forward to the rest of the term! Have a fabulous weekend! We are still waiting for some permissions to come through and then photos will be uploaded from this week, next week.

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
