A fabulous week in Year 2. We aren't letting this weather dampen our spirits!

In Maths we have continued looking at money, focusing on how to make a pound and how to give change. The children have enjoyed playing shop in the classroom taking it in turns to be customers and shop keepers. Our home learning task this week reflects our work on money, please see the home learning tab for more information.

In English the children have begun planning their own independent traditional tale, following the plot points from Little Red Reading Hood. They began by choosing their main character and been plotting their story each day.

Lots of exciting provision this week, again the toy shops in both classrooms have been a big hit with the children enjoying the role play element. We have had wand making and junk modelling in construction areas and been practicing our alogorithms and use of beebots in the tuft trays. In the writing area the children have been busy creating wanted posters for some very evil, sneaky villians! The children have really enjoyed lots of opportunities for role play in the toy castle and puppet show also.

During DT the children all designed their own chair for Baby Bear's chair which they will be making out of junk modelling next week. Please see information on School Spider.

A very creative afternoon in Art making our stick people! The children loved getting hands on with this task and we will be continuing this next week until our stick people are ready to come to their new homes.

In Computing the children have been focusing on making predicitions for where we think an algorithm with take our Beebots. Some super logical thinking!

We hope you all have a restful weekend,

Take care,

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
