It might have been super chilly this week but we have not let that dampen our spirits. The children have been fully committed to a lot of Nativity rehearsals, we even had our first dress rehearsal yesterday! It is all beginning to come together and we can’t wait to have an audience and show you all how hard the children have been working.

When we are not practicing the songs, learning our lines, or practicing our acting and dances we have been tackling the almighty column method. The children have now learnt all four ways to use the method, finishing with subtracting with renaming.

During English, the children have planned their own fact file for ‘Christmas in Australia’ and have began writing. We have broken it down into when they celebrate, the weather, celebrations, decorations, food and a fun fact. It’s been wonderful seeing the children get so invested in learning how other countries and religions celebrate Christmas.

The children have enjoyed this weeks activities in provision, sequencing the nativity story, learning fun facts about Christmas in Australia, writing their favourite one and sticking it to our life size surfboard. They’ve also been designing their own surfboards, creating Sydney opera house with paper plates and using whiteboards to work on their column method.

Congratulations to 2A who have come top on all four Doodle leader boards this week! A very proud moment! 2M have been holding tightly on to that top spot for a while, we’re getting very competitive!

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, it’s always a little magical this time of year, have a lovely one!

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
