Another fun filled and busy week in Year 2! Our Christmas Around the World topic is in full swing! This week, we have been learning about Christmas traditions in Spain. The children are beginning to spot similarities to their own Christmas traditions and have thoroughly enjoyed learning about differences in Christmas traditions too. The children enjoyed creating their own Kings 'cone' people and writing facts about Christmas celebrations in Spain too. Today, we had a glimpse at next week's country.... Australia! We are looking forward to hearing more about sandmen, Christmas barbecues and surfing Santas next week.

The children have impressed us with their sewing skills during our DT project. They have been busy designing a Christmas pouch and have made a super start stitching the felt together using a running stitch. We can't wait for you to see the end result.

During maths, the children have been consolidating column addition and have begun column subtraction. We have been super impressed with their determination to learn this new arithmetic method. Please see the Home Learning page for more information about this week's maths task.

Our week has also been filled with Nativity rehearsals as the show is quickly approaching! Lots of singing the songs, practising our lines and dances has been taking place this week. If you haven't already sent in any additional items requested for costumes, please send them in next week as we are hoping to do a dress rehearsal on Thursday. The children are really excited!

Have  a lovely weekend.
The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
