What another busy and exciting week we have had in Year 2!
In English, we have continued our work around The Lion in Paris. The children have been developing their sentence-writing skills by remembering those all-important capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We have also explored verbs and adjectives, choosing exciting vocabulary to describe the lion and his journey. Towards the end of the week, we began creating expanded noun phrases to make our descriptions even more interesting.
In Maths, we have continued developing our understanding of place value. We have been partitioning two-digit numbers into tens and ones, writing numbers in expanded form and using number lines to help us locate and identify numbers up to 100. The children have worked really hard to apply these skills both during our lessons and independently in our learning areas.
We have also been busy across our wider curriculum. In Art, we became nature collectors and explored how artists such as Alice Fox use objects found in the natural world to inspire their artwork. In RE, we began learning about Judaism, discussing the things that are precious to us before exploring some of the special objects that can be found in a Jewish home. Our PSHE learning focused on how families can be different and the same, celebrating the fact that every family is unique and special. We have also enjoyed developing our skills through PE, Music and Computing, including becoming more confident using Seesaw.
Of course, a huge highlight of our week was our school trip to the boat museum! The children represented our school brilliantly and made us incredibly proud. They enjoyed exploring the museum, looking closely at the different artefacts and using what they saw to develop their understanding of the past. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, enthusiasm and fantastic behaviour throughout the day.
During Learn and Explore, the children have continued to impress us with their independence and creativity. From creating Paris landmarks to exploring number lines and producing artwork inspired by nature, there has been lots of purposeful learning happening throughout our classroom.
Well done, Year 2, for another fantastic week. We are so proud of all your hard work and enthusiasm!
