Year 2 blog 17.10.25

Date: 14th Oct 2025 @ 10:22pm

Our penultimate week of Autumn Term One has come to a close and we are having a wonderful time seeing the children so settled.
This week we have began writing our independent stories, our very own version of ‘A Lion in Paris’. The children have decided on the wild animal that will feature in their story and the destination they will explore, i.e. ‘The Gorilla in Formby’. The children are working hard structuring their sentences on their own, remembering to include capital letters and full stops, whilst thinking back to everything we learnt when writing our modelled write. We are thoroughly looking forward to reading them when they have finished!
During computing, the children discussed how to remain safe when using IT and came up with a list of rules for using the chromebooks in the classroom. In groups the children made bright, eye catching posters to display in our computing area.
In RE we discovered the Jewish celebration of Hannukah and the children learnt about the story of Hannukah whilst deciding what makes it important to Jewish people.
The children really enjoyed practising their dribbling skills in outdoor PE, practicing dribbling the ball from one end of the playground to another, with both their feet and hands.
It was lovely getting to chat to some of you at this weeks parents evening, we look forward to speaking to everyone else next week.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
