Year 2 Blog 1.5.26

Date: 1st May 2026 @ 3:21pm

A fabulous week in Year 2!

The children are making good progress in their plans for their diary writes, we have had some great ideas and the children have been excellent at working collaboratively.

We are still focusing on fractions for maths, the children are all working really hard and can't wait to solve some pizza problems during continuous provision next week!

Our topic this term is The Great Fire of London and the children have loved exploring this within history. The class were able to organise sources of information that help us to understand what actually happened in London during 1666 as well as discussing the importance of Samuel Pepys during this period.

During music, we have focused on notations, how we can read music and pitch. We have enjoyed listening to some lovely class performances.

In RE we looked at the story of The Lost Sheep, both classes have created some wonderful pictures to show their understanding of the story.

In both outdoor and indoor PE, the children have all worked very hard whilst creating a new section to our dance and also demonstrating some amazing jumping skills.

Reminder - we are not in school on Monday.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend!

Year 2

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
