Year 2 Blog 11.7.25

Date: 9th Jul 2025 @ 6:42pm

We have a had another great week in Year 2! The children had lots of fun learning about healthy, balanced diets and the children embarked on a challenge to create a healthy wrap including a protein, vegatables and also the option of dairy. Our project went into full swing with the children enthusiastically trying out different combiantions of protein, vegetables and dairy. Fun was had by all! We then got busy cosidering favourite fillings and the children created their final design, before making their own wrap on Thursday and taste testing it again to evaluate it.

Excitement and enthusiasm filled the air during our Computing work! The children have been learning to code and create their own algorithms in Scratch Jnr. We were very impressed with how quickly the children were able to sequence different code blocks to make their character grow, shrink, talk and move! Some budding technologists in our mix!  Lots of children have been keen to continue exploring Scratch Jnr further at home. It is a free app, if you search for Scratch Jnr, you should find it!

During PE, the children demosntrated super problem solving, team work and communuication skills during our Outdoor Orienteering activities and also enjoyed practising handball skills too. We have also enjoyed planning our own poems 'If I were in charge of the World' and have been impressed with the children's creative and imaginative ideas! We look forward to seeing the end results next week.

During maths, we have practised our 'perseverance' and reasoning skills solving word problems, including representing word problems in a bar model to help us break the problems into manageable chunks. The children are trying really hard with this trickier part of maths! This week's Home Learning tasks is further reinforcement and practice of word problems. See the Home Learning tab for more information.

Our week eneded with more excitement as the children visited their Year 3 classrooms and Year 3 staff again. We are sure they will enjoy all the new adventures and experiences the Juniors has to offer!

For now, we will look forward to our very last full week in Year 2 next week! We cannot believe how quick this year has gone!

Have a wonderful weekend.
The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
