Year 2 Blog 10.9.26

Date: 10th Jul 2026 @ 4:09pm

This week in Year 2 has been another busy and exciting one, with lots of fantastic learning taking place across the curriculum!

In English, the children have been planning and writing their very own animal riddles. They have worked hard to include clues, descriptive language and interesting facts to challenge their readers. We have loved seeing their creativity and trying to guess each mystery animal!

In Maths, we have been exploring statistics. The children have been collecting, sorting and interpreting data using bar models and pictograms. They have enjoyed asking questions about the information they collected and comparing their results.

Our Art lessons have been full of creativity as the children experimented with monoprinting to create a range of wonderful animal prints. They used oil pastels to add vibrant colour and detail, producing some fantastic pieces of artwork.

One of the highlights of the week was our 'When I Grow Up' Mufti Day. It was wonderful to see the children's aspirations come to life through their fabulous costumes. We loved hearing all about their dreams for the future, from doctors and teachers to astronauts, footballers and many more!

The biggest highlight of the week was definitely making our delicious, healthy wraps! As part of our learning about a balanced diet, the children explored the different food groups, including protein, carbohydrates, fats, vegetables, dairy and oils. They enjoyed tasting a variety of healthy ingredients before planning and creating their own wraps. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience, and best of all, they were able to enjoy eating their tasty creations!

We can't believe there is only one week left of Year 2! It has been such a wonderful year, and we are looking forward to making the very most of our final week together, creating more special memories before the summer holidays!

Have a lovely hot weekend!

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
